Taiwo has been a tutor at the Hub since its inception and is our youngest tutor, which is not to say that even the oldies haven’t learned from him. Taiwo maintains a close tutoring relationship with his students through voice mails, a method that proved so much more effective than Whatsapp messages, that it is now commonly used by other tutors.

Goodbye to our oldest tutor.

It was a sad day for everyone at OLH when Monica van Heerden announced her decision to retire as a tutor. Her vast subject knowledge and her empathy with her students are impressive to say the least, but above all, Monica is known for her insistence on both students and tutors asking the essential questions who, what, when, where, why and how that ultimately lead to the development of the critical thinking skills that are necessary not just for success in tertiary education, but in life.

The bottom line.

Money is a hard-earned commodity that must be spent wisely and Willem Lotter takes this very seriously.

Willem, who is one of the three Mancom members, has his finger firmly on the pulse of OLH finances and governance. Not only does he oversee the greater finances of OLH, he also coaches the students to become smart and responsible about their own money, as well as the money that OLH invests in them.
